Coach's Note
This person is one who has overcome more adversity than many of us can imagine. Due to inadequate health care, an ambulatory prosthesis provides support. Living alone in a oppressive drug crazed criminal environment, a unwavering commitment to God's empowering grace has driven this amazing individual to serve a very needy community. BP was hosted by the mission wherein the labor of this worthy Christian has patiently persevered for years. This testimony is remarkable.
I have volunteered for almost six years in a downtown soup kitchen. It is a church operation. I have lived in the Fort Worth inner city all of my life. Sure, I had struggled with finances and raising kids. There is lots of wickedness all around me, but, I considered myself, to be fairly reliable and dependable. I really don't know why I took Basic Progress. I guess it was being offered.
As we went through the workbooks and I listened intently to Jay, I became aware of why others acted the way they did. I was the first to point my fingers and say, "boy, does this person need to be here!" As we progressed into the blue book, (practical truth), we began to look at certain beliefs that I had more or less overlooked --religion, suffering and the Bible. I could not believe that I had been reading Scripture all of my life, every day, and I had missed some really important points about God. This course renewed my spirit. I now understand and appreciate much more about what God has done in my life and in the church.
Basic Progress is a course that everyone should take. It is not just for those who are bumbling around acting a fool. I have been a Christian for a long time and have tried to live the principles. I can't explain it. If anyone gets the opportunity to take this course, they should.
