God's Role in Basic Progress

People need God. We scratch and claw, argue and fume; we defend and close our minds. When trouble comes, we blame anybody or anything, including God. Our aim is to clear away the mildew of denial and the decay of fault finding. Personal responsibility and honest confession is what God needs to move in our midst. BP (Phase 1) has laid out simple truths in ordinary language that both creates a need for God and then facilitates an effective sacred relationship. Phase 2, Causal Quest clearly demonstrates how world view, religion and belief empower or undermine our ability to engage God in our daily life. Major religions are presented without fanfare or prejudice. The group is then invited into a deeper investigation. The final phase, Dialogues presents the basics of faith in a common sense format. Basic Progress is spiritual formation in practice.

Creating a spiritual model for human experience and interaction is a daunting task, but, given God's own participatory nature, not improbable. While BP does not require any religious predisposition, an easy place to establish common ground is mutual agreement that there is a something more complex than mere human intellect. In fact, if people do not perceive God, there is no logic that will change that. That is God's job. Basic Progress depends on God to make the person aware of what they need including the 'knowing' of the one great reality. Basic Progress engages each person within a group environment that effectively demonstrates God's personal love of, immediate concern for and dynamic activity with the BP participant. Hundreds of former participants are witnesses to this truth. God shows up during Basic Progress in remarkable ways.

There is no hope of success without a conscious dependence on God's presence, but life pressure, whether stabilizing of disruptive, are real. Reality is the primary boundary by which effective spiritual conversation is achieved. BP is an appropriation of true ideas, intuitive knowledge and empirical observations that serve as a guide to each participant's experience. By the conclusion of the BP adventure, God's presence has become obvious. Although some relations are permanently scarred with mistrust, it is very clear to daughters, sons, spouses, fathers and mothers, that the BP process has created a new person on whom they can, once again, begin to believe in and trust. And that, my dear partners, is not only commendable, it is worth your investment as a BP partner.
