How is Basic Progress addressing modern needs?

Our culture is experiencing a crisis of truth. The modern world is an environment which moves fast and demands more than at any period in history. Technology and industry have rendered robotic tools that yield products by the ton. Our ability to travel and communicate has progressed from ponies and pony express to autos and mobile phones. The Western culture is infected with a false confidence in human enterprise. We worship sports, medicine, money, knowledge, sex, and personal potential. Chaos is the new morality. Truth has been ignored, abandoned or misused. Seekers, confused by therapies, diets, recovery methods, new age and quasi religious programs have been on a rampage. The deepest level of need is not cultural nor intellectual, but spiritual. Truth is in demand. Basic Progress addresses that need.

Life is truly desperate apart from God. Scripture clearly shows that Christianity is personal, contemporaneous, and functional in the real world. Unfortunately, distrust for the Christian community of faith is at an all time high. Far too often Christians have used the Bible has a weapon to injure rather than heal. The true mark of the power of faith is how well one demonstrates how life is to be lived and how reality is to be construed based on God's character. This does not relegate sacred scripture to a secondary role, but preserves it for a role of primacy in spiritual development. It is a bold declaration of what God did historically and will do in real life. Once the human plight is defined and understood, the process of maturation into a blessed life can begin.

The ultimate task for BP is to demonstrate how Christian norms and forms as demonstrated in the biblical world is, in fact, the applications we need. A revised vision of one's own lived experience becomes acceptable as BP makes reasonable sense of criticisms, thus promoting the vitally necessary healing. We discover ways to bring about personal conditions that make the language of covenant, faithfulness, and reconciliation meaningful. Christian identity should not be based on any neutral or subjective criteria but in a full demonstration of how life's most productive means of living is expressed in and through the biblical world of faith, morality, and ethics. Basic Progress has been around long enough to show that the participant's life is different because they invested in BP and were so rewarded. So were their children. That is where you come in.
