Prayers of FaithThomas Aquinas 1225 - 1274
"Grant me, O Lord my God, a mind to know you, a heart to seek you, wisdom to Thanksgiving After CommunionI thank you O Holy Lord, omnipotent father, and eternal God. Although I am a sinner and through no merits of my own, but out of the abundance of your goodness, You have satisfied me, Your unworthy servant, with the precious Body and Blood of Your Son, our Lord Jesus Christ. I pray that this Holy Communion may not bring me condemnation and punishment but that it is a humble plea for forgiveness and salvation. May it be for me the armor of faith and a shield of good will. May it be the emptying out of my vices and put an end to my lustful passions and all evil desires. May it bring me charity and patience, humility and obedience, maturity in all virtues and the power to do good. May it be my strong defense against the snares of my enemies, visible and visible, and May it be the perfect quieting of all my evil impulses, both bodily and spiritual. May it bind me firmly closer to You, the One true God, and lead me safely through death to everlasting happiness with You. I pray that You deign to bring me, a sinner, to the unimaginable banquet where You, with Your Son and holy Spirit, are true and perfect light, total fulfillment, everlasting joy, gladness without end, and perfect bliss to your saints. Grant this through Christ our Lord, AMEN. |
