Prayers of Faith

John Chrysostom (347 - 407)

"Jesus calls us to value that which is most precious to us --our soul
--as second to our love for God, for our Father which wishes to be loved by us entirely."

Prayer of Reverence for Christ

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.

You, O Christ, Our God,

who hears our prayer and is merciful without cause,

endow us with deeper faith and spiritual understanding

to call upon You at all times and in all places,

always, now and ever and forever.

You, O Christ, Our God,

who saves Your people and blesses Your inheritance,

preserve the fullness of Your church by Your divine power

sanctify those and glorify them who love the beauty of Your house,

always, now and ever and forever.

You, O Christ, Our God,

who blesses those who bless You and sanctify those who trust in You,

Instill in us a spiritual life, so that, having curbed all carnal desires,

we can, in thought and deed and everything please You,

always, now and ever and forever.

You, O Christ, Our God,

because of Your indescribable and boundless love for mankind,

though in nature unchanged and unchangeable,

You became man and were made our high priest and, Master of all,

always, now and ever and forever.

You, O Christ, Our God,

Who are the fulfillment of the law and the prophets,

have fulfilled the whole plan of the Father,

fill our hearts with joy and gladness,

always, now and ever and forever.

You, O Christ, our God,

who offers and are offered, who receives and are received, and

to You we render glory, with Your eternal Father,

and Your all holy, gracious and life-creating Spirit,

always, now and ever, and forever.

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.

Blessed be the name of the Lord always, now and ever, and forever.
