Prayer for Charity

Lord, make me an instrument of Your peace.

that where there is hatred,

let me bring love.

that where there is injustice,

let me bring pardon.

that where there is discord,

let me bring harmony.

that where there is doubt,

let me bring faith.

that where there is error,

let me bring truth

that where there is despair,

let me bring hope.

that where there is darkness,

let me bring light,

that where there is sadness,

let me bring joy.

O Divine Master,

Grant that I may not so much seek

to be comforted,

but to comfort,

to be understood,

but to understand;

to be loved,

but to love.

For it is in service that one is Your channel,

it is in giving

that one receives,

it is in forgiving

that one is forgiven; and

it is in dying

that we are born to eternal life.
