Fellowship

Matthew 18:19-20
"Again, I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything you ask for,
it will be done for you by my Father in heaven.
For where two or three come together in my name, there am I with them."

The body of Christ supports and binds the fellowship of like-minded Christians in their understanding of God and their struggles with the practice of communing with Him. There is a reciprocal relationship with each other that includes exhortation and admonishment. A sense of peace can be attained from the knowledge that there are others of like mind. The fellowship plays a vital role in attaining and sustaining a realization of joy that would normally be impossible without the corporate body of Christ. The whole is greater than the sum of its parts. It is a .we. thing. Our results are greater together than what we can do alone. The exercise of daily service or respect is taught and modeled by Christians in the church context.

True fellowship is concerned with doctrine, but it is mindful of the matters of the heart. Fellowship does not condemn, it teaches and admonishes. Fellowship does not carry with it special cliques, it welcomes all. It is not intimidated, nor is it proud. It is love in action. Christian fellowship is a blessed communion of God's people with each other. It does not have to be defended nor does it have to be sold. Fellowship is the attraction that draws people to God.

Throughout the Bible, God speaks to the individual through the collective body. There are certain benefits to religion, but it starts with the individual. Each of us is a minister. An ability and desire to exhaust oneself for others is the standard that was set forth by our King on the cross. That fact will cause us to be excited about our life and our church. It is good. Our imitation of Christ and the telling of His story, will fulfill many New Testament promises for ourselves and our church family. In the final analysis, it is the attitude of the heart that really matters. Let us not forget that God has first engaged and revealed himself to us. It is our response to that love that we must share and communicate in fellowship with His kids.

Besides that, God likes it.
