Alcoholics Anonymous is the AA text book from which the well known alcoholism recovery fellowship derived its name. Since its first edition in 1939, millions of copies of this great spiritual classic have been published. It provides the principles by which the earliest AA members maintained sobriety from alcohol. Alongside the AA fellowship, the contents of this text has served to alter the life of thousands of men and women, which speaks little of it great societal benefit to their families, friends and neighborhood.
For those of you, who are familiar with the Big Book, we have not offered anything but the core text: section I, chapters 1-11. Our first phase, "Basic Progress," is not just the twelve steps, but anyone with AA recovery can easily spot those sections. Of course, the reason Basic Progress exists is because we feel the need to be more specific about the 'Higher Power' and extend the spiritual disciplines beyond abstinence. We salute you and pray that we can work together to be significant partners for good in the World.
As it should be, the core text of the Big Book is in the public domain and we pray that we have done it justice. It may not be accurate that your main problem is alcohol, so when you cross that word or topic in the reading take the liberty to replace your own particular issue. The spiritual principles are universal.
